WWP Discussion Page
Hi all!
I hope you're enjoying your spring break! I wanted to give you a brief update on a few things. First, I've confirmed we will definitely have refreshments for our two Open Mic Night events. Next, the link on the Academy of American Poets' site regarding National Poetry Month (April) is: http://poets.org/page.php/prmID/41 . Perhaps this will spark some ideas we could use in circles, for the Mondays at Mabee event on April 14th, etc.
By the way, any news on the writer/visual artist/music project?
Finally, I think we will have a decision made regarding the iRead title for the next academic year. If we can book the author to speak on campus (should find out tomorrow hopefully), we will read Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. If you're interested in learning more about the book, you could check out the following sites:
The Washburn Writers Program will be an integral part of the iRead program. This only makes sense, but it also ensures funding for WWP if we work with the iRead initiative. At the end of April, I'd like to gather together and talk about next year (Are you going to be around? Do we need to recruit any additional students for the program? etc.). I guess that's it for now. -Ann 3/19/2008
Hello again!
We have confirmed locations for all Writers' Circle events now (see flyer or calendar on the FrontPage). I'll post an announcement about tomorrow's writers' circle (in the Crane room of the Union). -Ann, 2/18/2008
Hi Writers!
Just wanted you to know that the Monday Writers' Circles will be held in the Mabee Library (main level - back area lounge). The flyer (file) on the FrontPage has been updated to reflect this information. I've asked one of the CUSP secretaries to reserve Union rooms for the Tues/Th events (and that we preferred the Crane room if possible). As soon as I hear back on that info, I'll let you know. Have a good weekend! -Ann, 2/15/2008
Hello again!
I see that Dennis has added a page (Poetry Stuff) to the wiki. Yeah! I also posted the flyer for our circles schedule on the FrontPage (home page). Today Huascar posted LOTS of paper copies around campus (Thanks again!). And - hopefully you all saw that I e-mailed Kandy in the Mulvane about the writing-art-music project. Have a good Valentine's Day! -Ann, 2/14/2008
Hi Everyone! Since we seem to have such difficulty gathering in person at times, John, Huascar, and I thought that a virtual gathering place might be a better solution. Since a wiki can be multi-authored, we decided to try this. This page is for us to chat. The key to its success will be checking the wiki regularly. -Ann, 2/12/2008
